I've been enjoying making lavender wands again. This is such a lovely thing to do as your visiting with a friend (or watching a movie) because you can do it without much thought, I also love the smell of lavender so enjoy working with it just for that reason. A
dear friend of mine showed me how to make these several years ago and I can still remember spending time with her in my old back yard as she showed me how she makes them. She makes hers much tidier than I ever have but I enjoy them all the same.
Once they are dry I will remove the white string from the gift ones and replace it with a ribbon. I still have the original ribbon from the first one my creative friend gave to me and I re-use it each year on one of mine (she made the ribbon as well).
I've got quite a stash now, some will go in our bathroom, some will go in our clothes drawers and some will be given as gifts.

Your lavender wands look lovely, and remind me of time spent in Bonnieux, France. I wish we could grow our own lavender. Our plants are so stunted and we barely get any flowers in our cold New England climate.
Mmm! I love all things lavender and when we moved to the country I wanted to have a lavender farm - hasn't happened yet but I'm still game!
Funny enough, I am harvesting my own (small not farm-sized) lavender today. I always called these bundles 'brooms' having first learned about them from a potpourri book years ago. I also learned the importance of them rather than hanging loose bunches when I woke up one morning to discover the cat chewing on the stems that were tied beside the bed!
I really like this idea because I have been looking for other things to do with my lavender! Thank you. Are they as easy as they look or is there a trick to them?
I always keep this idea in the back of my mind as something I want to try. But these days, I consider myself lucky to just harvest it and put it in vases to dry.
Yours are so lovely...the lavender so, well, purple.
Ooh, I'd forgotten about these, thank you xxx
Wow. Has it really been years ago? It can't be! Eep. Wish I could be there with you, making some from this year's bounty. You know how much I love lavender (and how much more I would love to just be there with you). Enjoy that lavender for me!
... my word verification word is "colin" as in Firth? ;o) I think that's a gentle reminder for me to go borrow P&P from the library... hee hee
Thanks Sharon, they really are as easy as they look. The only tip I can think of is that I use 23 (?!?) stems of lavender for each one. ;-) I remember having a giggle when Katherine told me that, it seemed such a funny number to be so specific about...but there you have it and I follow her directions precisely. ;-)
Lavender is my all time favorite flower. The beauty and simplicty calms me just gazing upon it. I always string it up to dry and hang it about the house, but I should try these little wands. So sweet. Thanks for the idea!
wow...these are gorgeous & useful. thank you much for sharing! :)
They are beautiful! I wanna grow some now, just for that!
Wow! You must really have allot of Lavender...these are just lovely. I love the smell of Lavender I add it to some of my beeswax ornaments...the scent of the honey and lavender mix so well.
