Just lately I've been missing my gardens from our old home. I was managing quite nicely by reading Shelia's garden blog and living vicariously through her transplanting, edging and general springtime garden enjoyment. But then yesterday we woke up to snow again. It snowed all morning and into the afternoon a bit. What to do? What to do to bring some sunny cheer to this home?
Well, for starters a batch of pumpkin cinnamon buns seemed like a good idea, but then a triple batch to go with a visit from friends seemed an even better idea.
I love this recipe because you roll out the dough and then slather it with a creamed butter, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon mixture.
They were delicious. A visit with friends is hard to beat, but pumpkin cinnamon buns and friends (especially one who helps clip seams on a denim quilt!)...delightful. We hardly noticed the snow.

Mmm. Nice. My initial impression when I saw that picture of snow was shock. It's hard to believe the weather can vary so in this province. It's t-shirt weather here today: mild and sunny. Crazy how much it differs.
YUM - pumpkin buns!
seriously, do you cut it into that shape before you take the photo? nobody rolls a perfect rectangle like that. nobody!!! i made some non-dairy ones today and they are delicious!
drool, drool...
Ha ha, Mary-Sue, I have hidden talents - I am a perfect rectangle roller. ;-)
I made some of these two days ago, using organic whole wheat flour. Yummy! And then this morning decided that this would be a great way to use up jam I made a few years ago and some apples I bought on sale that were bruised. Yummm- I made a quadruple batch. Now I know what to do with all the jam sitting on my canning shelves.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Marty, I'm glad you enjoyed them. We've made them with apples grated onto the cinnamon/butter/sugar filling and they were delicious but I never thought to make them with jam. Now THAT is brilliant? I also have lots of jam in my coldroom that I would like to use up and now the thought of blackberry rolls has me wanting to make a new batch. Thank you for the inspiration too. :-)
