Then I sliced some up and put them in front of the fireplace. Have I mentioned how much I love having a fireplace?
The bonus of drying them in front of the fire, besides that they dry even faster here than in the electric dryer, is that they make the room smell delicious. W commented on it as well. Such a lovely feeling to be in a warm, cozy, apple scented room.
And, fireplaces are lovely for drying clothes in front of too.
I washed and dried this wool cardigan yesterday and now have plans to do some needle felting on it. I haven't tried needle felting on a garment before but I think it will be fun to give it a try.
can't wait to see the finished sweater! (i'm envious of your "real" fireplace!)
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea for drying apples! We finally got our woodstove in with, ironically, a warm spell! But, that won't last!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea for drying apples. I am definitely going to try this. We only have a gas-effect coal fire, but it gives out a lot of heat. This would look lovely at Christmas-time, and on a cold Autumnal evening. x
ReplyDeleteThe apples actually dry surprisingly (to me) fast by the fire. I love the way they look in their jars afterwards too, leaving the red skin on makes them very pretty.
