That kind I use in soups or breads. I also slice some and saute it for a few minutes and freeze in freezer bags (to be used in soups or casseroles). When I use it in soups I just pop it right into the soup pop as a frozen clump, I don't thaw it first - perhaps that makes a difference??Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01343988569221606506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3559352152168236450.post-23413273974172868262010-08-06T06:53:27.671-07:002010-08-06T06:53:27.671-07:00Hi Jacqueline - yes, I blanch the beans for 3 minu...Hi Jacqueline - yes, I blanch the beans for 3 minutes (then cool in cold water) and the corn for about 6 minutes (or so). A couple years ago I tried freezing the corn on the cob and just left it in the husk(removed silk) and popped it in a bag in the freezer. It was OK but not as good as the corn I blanched and then cut off the cob and bagged.Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01343988569221606506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3559352152168236450.post-25818968710195084992010-08-06T05:27:18.799-07:002010-08-06T05:27:18.799-07:00I had the same question re. zucchini...it always s...I had the same question re. zucchini...it always seems like you have none, or TOO many! We had a meal last night of maple-roasted root vegetables, salad, and quiche, all made with things we'd grown, raised, or bartered for locally! Every time I've tried to freeze some, it thaws with a bad smell that has carried over into whatever I've made with it.ALWPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18095603519449402411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3559352152168236450.post-28022555235429334082010-08-05T13:45:29.548-07:002010-08-05T13:45:29.548-07:00do you cook the corn and beans first before you fr...do you cook the corn and beans first before you freeze them?Jacquelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17555914691024564842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3559352152168236450.post-19786913626131197752010-08-05T09:20:29.068-07:002010-08-05T09:20:29.068-07:00That salad looks delicious - we should be getting ...That salad looks delicious - we should be getting some fresh local corn soon here too...YUM!affectioknithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00956694289800463441noreply@blogger.com
